Recover access when you can't open your email
1 min readUpdated Oct 21, 2026
If checkout used an email you cannot open, which is common with Apple Pay, Recover Access proves the purchase with your card and moves the subscription to an email you can open.
- Open Recover Access.
- Under Last 4 digits of your card, enter the last 4 digits from your bank statement or banking app. If you paid with Apple Pay and only see the Device Account Number in Wallet, that works too.
- Under Email you want to use, enter an email you can open.
- Tap Continue.
- Enter the 6-digit code we send to that email. Tap Resend Code if it does not arrive.
When it works, you are signed in and your subscription now lives on the new email. Use that email to sign in from now on.
You do not need to know the email from checkout. If the card matches more than one payment, it also asks for the Email on your receipt, the email shown on your receipt or bank statement.
Recover Access only finds purchases made on our website, including Apple Pay and Link. It cannot find a subscription bought in the iPhone app. For that, see Paid but don't have premium.
If you can still open the email on your account, update your email instead.
